NEW SINGLE "MARY" ON NOV 22

Supergrass release their new single "Mary", follow-up to the Top 10 hit "Moving", on Parlophone on November 22. The single is backed over the various formats with live tracks recorded at John Peel's house, Peel Acres, in September this year. These include the hit singles "Pumping On Your Stereo", "Richard III" and "Sun Hits The Sky", plus "Strange Ones".

The band, who have just concluded a triumphant UK tour with two sold-out nights at London's Forum, are currently on a European tour, to be followed next year by tours of Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the USA.

The stunning video for "Mary", a homage to various classic horror films, ran into trouble after TV producers refused to show the original version before the 9pm watershed. An edited version has been done which has the scenes in question replaced by a picture of 3 onions and the band's website address where the original video can be seen in full.

When asked to comment, singer Gaz Coombes said: "This was one of our best videos. Since we spent lots of time and money making something that will never be shown in it's full form in the UK, we put it on our site to give people a chance to see it." The website is at www.supergrass.com

Inspired by films like "The Chainsaw Massacre", "Carrie", "Psycho" and "The Omen", the video for the single features projectile vomit, kids turning to skeletons, blood pouring down walls and out of a sink - and a sterling performance by the band.

"Mary" is released on 2CDs and cassette.

A 7" single will be released on November 29, backed with a live version of the track recorded for Lamacq Live on Radio 1.
