Pumping On Your Stereo

A tour of some of the defining moments of '70s rock, 'Pumping On The Stereo' is a competent enough taster from the forthcoming third Supergrass album through without that extra special something - an immediately thrilling tune, perhaps - that usually makes their singles such irresistible affairs. Gaz snarls like Ziggy-period Bowie while his guitar hook threatens to turn into 'Jumpin' Jack Flash'... only it doesn't go anywhere in particular, resulting in a dirgey, plodding Quo reject. For once - and let's hope once only - 'Pumping On The Stereo' is actually slighly less than the sun of its parts.
