Supergrass (Parlophone)
They were muppets in their last video, but is Supergrass's latest a Treasure island?

The Oxford trio have been rock's cheeky scamps since riding around on choppers in the video for Alright - the summer anthem of 1995. But Gaz, Mick and Danny have matured and this, their third album, at times sounds like a strange mix of The Rolling Stones, Brian Eno and even the theme tune to Rent-A-Ghost. Stand out moments are the single Pumping On Your Stereo (recorded in the afterglow of England beating Tunisia in World Cup '98), the bizarre Jesus Came From Outer Space, and when bassist Mick Quinn takes over the vocals for the tender closing track Mama & Papa. Blinding.
