All Back To My Place
Gaz Coombes
What music are you currently grooving to?
The new Ben Folds Five album gets played a lot in my local pub. I like that. It's really smart.
What, if push came to shove, is your all-time favourite album?
I love Troubadour by J.J. Cale, not for any particular reason, but it's usually the one I pull out of my record collection.
What was the first record you bought, and where did you buy it?
Probably Uptown Girl by Billy Joel. Or did my little brother get that for Christmas? Maybe it was Material Girl by Madonna. From Our Price Records, High Street, Oxford.
Which musician (other than yourself) have you ever wanted to be?
Ooh no, definitely not. 'Cos then you wouldn't be yourself. I can still see things I don't like even in people I have huge respect for.
What do you sing in the shower?
Alright... No, I sing Apostrophe by Frank Zappa. Or I shout.
What is your favourite Saturday night record?
Has to be the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. We used to listen to that at 3.45 all the time. That and The Muppets' album.
And your favourite Sunday morning record?
Sunday Morning by The Velvet Underground. That's a sort of obvious choice. Or Saturday Night Fever still. Or Nirvana, or something by Leonard Cohen if I've got a Sunday morning hangover.
