'Grass Is Greener In The States!

SUPERGRASS are the latest UK band poised for success in the US with their single 'Pumping On Your Stereo' currently on rotation on America MTV - a first for the band.
The 'Grass, who have just returned from the Australian leg of their world tour, recently changed labels from Capitol to Island/Def Jam in the US.
They started a 15-date North American tour on March 28 at New York Bowery Ballroom, which ends at Vancouver Commodore Ballroom on May 29.
A band spokesperson told NME that their current album, 'Supergrass', was being released there on April 4, and had already shipped more copies than their previous two albums' - 'I Should Coco' and 'In It For The Money' - combined sales to date.
Their spokesperson said: "It's a really good sign for them. It's not as if they're throwing everything into trying to break America, they've not got any delusions about what it can take to make it there. But it's looking promising."
NME can also reveal that the band are going into the studio next week to record a new single which they hope to release this summer.
Drummer Danny Goffey said that the band had been working on new material while on tour. He said: "There might be something coming out, there might be a single we are doing or something. The title is classified... I think we might be doing a couple of live gigs in England in June too. If we put a single out we'll do some gigs. It's not definite but we're working on it!"
Supergrass also play this year's V2000 and T In The Park festivals.
