Ali G records version of 'Sun Hits the Sky'. Wicked!
Supergrass have teamed up with cult TV character ALI G to record a new version of 'Sun Hits The Sky' - Staines massive drum'n'bass stylee!
G, played by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, remixed the 'Grass' 1997 hit for his new solo television comedy series The Ali G Show which is scheduled for broadcast later this year.
The episode, showing Gaz Coombes and G working together in the studio on the track, was filmed in London last week and has the working title 'Ali G's Music Masterclass'.
Rapper G can be seen attempting to teach Coombes the finer points of music appreciation as learned in the west suburbs of the capital and shows him where Supergrass went wrong the first time they recorded it. Innit.
A spokesman for Supergrass said that the band loved the Ali G version so much, even with it's added 'Boo-yakas', that they were looking to release it as an eventual B-side.
The spokeman continued: "Gaz jumped at the chance of working with him, but spent most of the time trying to stop Ali turning the bass up to full strength. but he thought he was a really top geezer. Wicked."
Meanwhile, Supergrass have announced they are to release 'Movin'' as the next single from their as-yet untitled new LP, out in September.
The follow-up to 'Pumping On Your Stereo', 'Movin'' will be released on August 30.
The band have also announced a full UK tour visiting Liverpool Royal Court (October 1) Glasgow Barrowlands (2), Newcastle Northumbria University (3), Nottingham Rock City (5), Manchester Academy (6), Sheffield Octagon (7), Cardiff University (9), Wolverhampton Civic (10) and London Kentish Town Forum (12).
