Supergrass
Traditionally, they call it "hotly-contested", and "hard-fought". But not this year. Supergrass won 1995's Best New Act award by what was once, in pre-decimal days, a country mile. The readers were near-unanimous in their high opinion of recent Q cover stars Gaz Coombes, Danny Goffey and Mickey Quinn (with honourable mention to shortlistees Cast, Foo Fighters, Alanis Morissette, Ash and Elastica).
