Have you checked out the new Supergrass video for "Pumping On Your Stereo" yet? Featuring the band members' heads bouncing atop floppy, flippy puppet bodies, it's a perfect visual companion to the giddy, joyful noise this young Brit trio makes. After almost making it via their chimey, gleeful single "Alright" off their debut album I Should Coco in the mid-'90s (and tossing it with the gloomier-but-brilliant second album In It for the Money), Supergrass is returning to these shores with their third, self-titled album, an infectious mishmash of everything from glam-rock to prog-rock to punk-rock and back again, all held together with the boys' knack for melody and harmony as inspired by the Beatles and the Beach Boys (but not in that knock-off Oasis way). With listen-'til-you-wear-it-out tunes like "Jesus Came From Outer Space" and "Shotover Hill" on hand, Britpop fanatics (and those of us who are just Brit-curious) will dig this disc to death.
